Karimi wins world freestyle bronze

TEHRAN, Sep. 12 (MNA) – Iranian freestyle wrestler Alireza Karimi won the bronze medal at the 2015 World Championships in Las Vegas by defeating his Bulgarian opponent.

Alireza Karimi, who showed an acceptable performance till the semifinals of the 86 kg weight, could beat the Bulgarian wrestler 12-nil and won the world bronze medal.

Ali Karimi had already defeated Uzbekistani wrestler Umidjon Ismanov in less than three minutes in the first round and won over Moldavian wrestler Piotr Ianulov 14-0 in the second round.

In his next match, Karimi crushed Ville Tapani Heina from Finland and in the quarter finals could easily defeat the Ukrainian Ibragim Aldatov 16-4 to reach the semi-finals. But in the semi-final, Karimi lost the match to the Russian gold-medalist Abdulrashid Sadulaev 2-6 and failed to reach the final of the competitions.

Iran’s freestyle wrestling team could grab 2 bronze medals in the first 4 weights with a total of 22 points at the World Wrestling Championships, Las Vegas, USA.

Seyedmahmoud Mohammadipahnehkolaei and Alireza Mohammad Karimia Machiani were Iran’s Bronze winners and Abbas Tahan ranked 5th in 97 kg.

According to the rankings of the first four weights, Azerbaijan is first with 30 points and Russia and Iran rank second and third with 27 and 22 points respectively.

Iran’s four representatives in the second four weights include Hassan Sabzali Rahimi in 57 kg, Hassan Yazdani in 70 kg, Alireza Ghasemi in 74 kg, as well as Parviz Hadi in 125 kg which will fight against their rivals tonight.
